Jan 05,2010 Revelstoke, BC, Jan 5,6,7

Jan 5,6, 7 Revelstoke, BC
Photos top to bottom:
1) Left the fun begin. Met up with Nick & Pat, two of Brett's friends from Boise. They were sleeping in their Subaru Outback so they moved into The Powder Wagon. Cozy! The Powder Wagon becomes official sponsor of Nick Aksamit!
2) Apres ski after skiing 50,000 vertical on Jan 4. Max vertical drop 5,600'. Longest run 9.5 mile cat-track. Took Brett 25 minutes full out. Typical gondola run gets you 5,000 vert. Finally admitted they were tired. I took the day off.
3) Ask for a picture and this is what you always get from these guys, when together not a serious bone in their body.
4) Only way to get them serious is to catch them checking out a cliff run. Nick was in Revelstoke to compete in the Freeskiing World Tour sponsored by Subaru and others.
5) Nick in middle of practice run. In middle of cliff area, directly below trees at top.
6) Judges at bottom of competitio n run.
7) Nick completes great run, misses the cut by 5 places out of 150 skiers.
8) Post race group photo, go figure
Boys skied over 100,000 vertical in 3 days, despite taking time to scope cliffs and watch competition.
I skied 30,800 on Jan 6 despite getting 10:00 a.m. start & taking a trip to town mid-day to get ski edge repaired.
Jan 7 watched competition and still skied 35,600 vertical.
Revelstoke moves to the top of "My Favorite Places to Ski".
At end of day, Brett and I depart for Kicking Horse Resort near Golden, BC. 2.5 hour drive
